Zona was given permission to use it and we are currently. Just need to fix a few glitches due to installation errors on my part. Tongue

I sincerely doubt that that software is anywhere near the standard Excheque Pro will be at, especially considering how absolutely shit it looks...seriously, does it pull live feeds for values of gold and silver in various currencies? Does it do stock and other commodity exchange? Even if so, the interface is still like 20 times shitter than even what Lite is at right now, this early in development...

Will there be a trial version of the pro? Just to check out the features before purchasing the software?

Nope, actually that isn't covered in the first post, Riles. He didn't ask whether there was a free version, he asked whether there was a free trial of the pro version. Two different things.

And, in response to that, Ben, unfortunately no. It would be a pain to have to keep track of the API keys (alternatively I could write a server script that crons them, but that would equally be a pain). However, there will be comprehensive video demonstrations of the features posted on YouTube so you can see exactly what they work like.

On another note, some people may have been wondering how I will enforce the copyright of the program and make sure people don't redistribute it. Well, quite simply put, it'll be working on an API key system which checks the validity of your key against a secure database. If it isn't in there, it won't install. Manually installing will not be easily possible because the code will be obfuscated and the base sql files encrypted.

A potential problem that arises from this is extensibility. While the look of the site will be, in the pro version, editable from a CSS editor in the admin panel, customising the actual code will be near-impossible for less experienced people. The solution? We will offer individual modification of the Pro software for only €7 per hour spent on modifying it. Compared to what web developers charge for customisations of PHP sites, that's a bargain Smile

Oh, by the way, after the pro version comes out you will be able to join Linden Softworks to work either as a programmer, web designer or graphic designer on Excheque Standard 2.0 and Pro 2.0, as well as bugfixes and stuff on the 1.x versions. We're not sure how that's going to work yet, though, because you'd need to get unobfuscated, free versions of Pro while we would still need to ensure you don't redistribute it. Benefits will be a salary in Marks (which are non-exchangeable, i.e. only usable in Pristinia) and a permission for a one-off use of the free copy of Pro you get for your nation.

Bad news, everyone.

My test server fried. No, I do not have any backups. And I'd already done all the design. Mah. I will only be able to resume development *after* my exams, i.e. the summer holidays. However, I am designing a nifty Gantt chart, (a) in order to show you what will be done when and (b) in order to keep myself from drifting off on a tangent. However, I expect the production schedule to almost certainly be delayed.

I can design graphics well in GIMP and that crummy paint. I would love to work for you, sir, event though we have had quite a rough past.
