HEY!
Remember that guy who set up a micronational root server? Not Tallini, the non-insane guy. I think he had "north" in his username somewhere. Anyway, I looked at our PM exchange for the .prs domain, and his user account is gone...why the fuck did that happen?

RE: HEY!
I think that those people should be contacted. If they don't reply in 14 days (or reply saying its OK), then you could delete them.

RE: HEY!
Deleting forum accounts, even if no longer active, is a shit idea. It buggers up a lot of stuff and prevents people from finding their contact information (like email et al) if they want to contact them. I mean, for accounts that never posted anything anywhere ever, or that were spammers, it makes sense. But not accounts that just happened to go inactive at some point.

RE: HEY!
Don't look at me - I didn't delete anything
I'm only in favour of deleting accounts if they're proven spambots.EDIT: Checked the admin log, it was Peter, so ask him. FRA1 Media Group Doing the right thing is not always doing the popular thing. Merely holding an opinion does not validate it. ![]() |

Fell into that category, so it was deleted. If they ever made a post then you can still search for that. Because, of course, somebody who goes ahead and sets up an account on the forum in case an issue arises regarding the wiki (and they want to discuss it) needs to be deleted from both the wiki and the forum as a spammer for not posting, because . . . because . . . because . . . . . . why, again? I mean, if they aren't posting, they aren't spamming. Their account can't be taking up more than a handful of bytes in the database in an era of gigabyte and terabyte drives. The purpose in deleting them is, what, exactly? |

RE: HEY!
We've had a lot of problems with spambots registering, not posting for a few days, then plastering the place with adverts for Valium or heaven knows what else. An automatic script deletes accounts with no edits 48+ hours after creation and that script runs, on average, once a week. I'm sorry if there are false positives as a result of this, but we don't want to end up drowning in spam, and all that's required for an account to be kept is that a single non-spam post on the forum or a single non-spam edit on the wiki is made - accounts that do this are automatically safeguarded from deletion. It's not that much to ask.
