One account for all sites....?

^If the other admins on the site are agreeable, I will be changing some settings on http://commons.microwiki.org.uk http://un.microwiki.org.uk, and the main wiki to share the main wiki's user table with all the other sites. This, essentially, means that when you've signed up an account on any one of the subsites, it is usable on all the other MicroWiki sites, and when you've logged in on one site, you're also logged in on all the others. The ipblocks table and some others will also be merged to blocks are global as well.

So, there will probably be some downtime for the site while I install this. That is, unless anyone has an objection....

NOTE: This affects the wiki sites only - the forum will not be integrated.

Commons and MicroWiki are good, but UnMicroWiki may be a little trickier given that the names are different for some people. Unless you can link up those accounts without changing the name, you'll have to...well, change the names. And I've seen at least one where the username main page is in tune with the username itself.

Other than that, no objections.

It's a good point, I have to say. Just because it's more comprehansive (obviously), the user table that I'll be sharing will be the one used for the main wiki.

Because the forum isn't a MediaWiki site.

Although, given all other sites have the same username, the user would be encouraged to use the same username on the forums.

Now, I need one more piece of information: Is this going to be affecting our userpages at all?

No, your user pages will not be affected - but you must bear in mind that if you use different usernames on the different subsites, you will not be able to use them any more and will only be able to use the username you have on the main wiki. I still haven't spoken to the other admins about this yet (and none of them have commented here either) so I can't give a timetable for when this will be done, unfortunately.

I'll implement this and travel.microwiki.org.uk when my exams are finished and I return from Aberystwyth. So earliest chance it'll get done is, most likely, May 29.

UPDATE: Shared logins should now work - if any of you encounter problems, let me know. You can now log in to un.microwiki.org.uk and commons.microwiki.org.uk using the same username and password as for the main wiki - and you should stay logged in across all the wikis once you have signed into one of them.

I'll integrate archive.microwiki.org.uk and I'll install travel.microwiki.org.uk soon.

EDIT: It's acting wierd on the main site - don't know why.
