Ally guy: "What would you do with all that extra money?"

Girl: "I would buy a Chang-O Machine so I could turn my brother into a puppy."

Ally guy: "Couldn't you just buy a real puppy?"

Girl: "But if I changed my brother into a puppy, I could bring him into show and tell and say, 'Here's my puppy brother.'"

Ally guy: "...Well when you say it like that, it makes perfect sense."

I would like to imagine at least some people in America have seen this commercial. But there's a difference between us and the little girl, namely, some of us don't have brothers, but more importantly, we're micronationalists. We're insane. That's rule #2 in the micronational lawbook. So, if you had a Chang-O-Machine, what would you do with it?

A couple rules to keep in mind:

1. When changing something or a pile or something into something else, it transmutes by weight. That is, a troy ounce of gold will not give you $1,300 worth of building materials (if people still do that in their nations these days), but will only give you a small block of wood, for instance.

2. The moment something leaves your possession (that is, if you drop it, trade it away, spend it (if you thought you could change things into money), or shoot it), it changes back to its original matter. If you are inside the building you changed something in, it will not revert unless you try to spend or trade it. For weapons, if the ammunition could actually harm someone, it will also revert)

3. No changing humans or other life.

4. The Chang-O Machine has unlimited power.

So what would you do? For me, I would take my collected garbage and change it into Nerf darts/discs, or more targets to shoot down. I may also take a couple things and change them into gold bars, because it's fun to just have them, right? All in good fun, yes?

I think we can make a real test which you can give yourself.
Right, Confederations Cup time! Last night saw the tournament open, with Brazil walking over Japan 3-0. So let's see my predictions on things

Group A
Brazil - Next World Cup hosts

Brazil have got a good young squad, and although I'm not a big fan of Neymar, I was certainly impressed by his performance last night against Japan. Many people under-estimate Brazil, but I think they are one of the best teams in the World at the moment.

Brazil's squad though is inexperianced at this level, and this tournament will be exactly what they need to prepare for next summer's world cup, as they haven't played competitively since exiting the Copa América two years ago. They've already seen off Japan, but I think Mexico and Italy will be very strong challengers for the trophy.

Japan - 2011 Asian Cup champions

Japan are a good team, and one of what I call Asia's three footballing superpowers (alongside South Korea and Australia). However, when it comes to intercontinental competitions, Japan have frequently failed to show the kind of from they have in asia, whereas South Korea and Australia have.

Japan will struggle at this tournament, and their 3-0 defeat to Brazil might just be the start of a terrible group for the Japanese, who I also see, unless some real development is made in the next 12 months, also flopping at the World Cup.

Mexico - 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup champions

I know people probably are gonna disagree with me, but I'm tipping Mexico to win this tournament, but I honestly see them winning this. They're gonna get out of the group easily, Japan didn't turn up against Brazil, and Italy aren't hitting form at the moment, and although Mexico have started to draw a lot of games recently, I think that this might benefit them. The group should be simple enough to get out of, should Javier Hernández turn up, and the knock-out stage will be easy for them, considering other nation's penalty records.

I won't tip Mexico for the World Cup, that's bound to be Germany in my book, but I think they will lift the crown at this summer's confederations cup, should they play at their best.

Italy - UEFA Euro 2012 runners-up

Italy are only at this tournament because Spain won both the Euros and the World Cup, but Italy really need testing, otherwise they're in for a repeat of their 2010 World Cup flop again in 2014. Italy have been poor recently, and if they had been put against better teams in their qualifying group would certainly not be top.

Saying this though, Italy are a tournament team, and should thrive under the atmosphere in Brazil. However, I don't see them progressing out of the group.

Group B
Spain - 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012 champions
Spain are World and European champions for a reason, and with players like Iniesta and Xavi, you can understand why. Although I'm not the biggest fan of Tiki-Taka, it must be said its brought the Spanish a lot of success recently at big competitions.

However, Spain don't have the Confederations Cup pedigree, and after most of their players have been subject to a long and tense domestic season, which only finished two weeks ago, I doubt the Spanish will be at their best. That said, they should progress out of this group easily.

Uruguay - 2011 Copa América champions
Uruguay are a team I love to hate. They're pretty much comprised of players who play for teams that I dislike, not to mention that Luis Suarez is my least favourite footballer of all time, however, Uruguay are a very good team.

I think they'll do well here, and I have no doubts that they can pull off some good results here, the test will come though in the knock-out phase, where it'll be an interesting battle.

Tahiti - 2012 OFC Nations Cup champions
As a football romanticist, I have to support Tahiti here at the Confederations Cup, even if they're coach, Eddy Etaeta, has said that he'd call it an achievement if they kept a clean-sheet for 45 minutes. Even so, Tahiti are here to play compete, even if they're about as good your local pub team with a Yeovil player thrown in.

They're gonna not get a single point here, it'll be amazing if they even get a point, but we can dream, eh? I don't have to point out some of the shocks of World Football? Hereford v Newcastle in 1972? Sutton United v Coventry in 1989? Norwich v Bayern in 1993? Argentina v Cameroon in 1990? So, why not Tahiti?

Nigeria - 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champions
Nigeria aren't what they were in the 90's, and African football's stars of the 00s have come to an end, with your Drogba's retireing, I only see African football dying a slow death over the next 10 years.

Saying that Nigeria should get at least three points here, but I doubt they'll do any better.

Who I think will win it: Mexico
Player to watch: Neymar (Brazil)
Team I want to score a goal most: Tahiti

This is the official map, as of now, for the GeoFiction game. As you can see, one nations has already placed a claim (me, Administan). Administan's claim is slightly larger than one should, but that's only because I designed the game. Aim for smaller claims than administan's, because we have a good amount of people playing.

Anyone can make a claim. Even people who previously didnt join the facebook or skype groups can make their own nation. But, if you do claim, our main means of communication will be through the skype room, facebook group, wiki and this subforum.

Take the existing map above, and draw in your claim, using a color not already used near your geographical region.

Place a yellow or gold dot on your capital

Provice some brief information about your new country, following the format provided in the example bellow.

Ask any questions or concerns, Riley Small and the others players in the game can answer some of them.

(other information like population, budget and all that will come later)

Remember, the rules aren't decided yet. We're still brainstorming, but soon the game will get rolling. If you want to have your opinion heard, tell Riley to add you to either the facebook or skype groups. We're still brainstorming about the rules and how the game should be played. (If you'd like to be a part of the brainstorming, feel free to contact Riley about joining the facebook or skype groups). It is not tied to your micronation, and we do not claim to be forming micronations. There are no rules against claiming land on our planet for your micronation as long as you play the game, but that is not what the game was designed for.

The game will be a realistic simulation of how countries interact diplomatically and militarily. We really want this to be sucessful, so if you want to make your own nation after we come up with the time period (I'll edit this when I confirm, there is still discussion over it, but it is likely to be modern or pre-modern-modern.), you can make a land claim on our map, as explained by the top post in the subfora "Land claims".

Thanks for reading, and I hope you join the game pls exkewz typos

President Obama of the United States has shown time and again his inability to effectively be head of government of his republic. It has become apparent that he is nothing more than Dubya 2.0 and that he is an outright liar and anti-constitutional apologist who thinks department and agency policies and trade agreements are more important than law protecting his own citizens.

I start by showing what President Obama says about the recent leak about the NSA's PRISM wiretapping/profile building project:

However, according to RT, FISA actually allows wiretapping without a warrant and people are not allowed to challenge FISA in court anymore, Just because the Supreme Court doesn't want to seriously question its constitutionality.

Also, according to The Guardian and the Washington Post, domestic communications are also being targeted, and millions' internet activities are being recorded and stored.

My search engine, https://ixquick.com, also released a statement about PRISM's activities and how they are not cooperating with the US's wiretapping, but Google, Microsoft, and Apple are, allowing the NSA access to your personal data as long as it is stored in the US or going through the US.

Oh, and need I remind anyone how all these secret police activities failed to stop the mass shootings or the Boston Bombings?

Also, more idiocy: drone Strikes on innocent civilians. But it's alright, because Afghans, Yemenis, and Americans in Yemen are not real people, and don't deserve rights.
